2011 is the 21st Walk The Wight and the 20th in aid of the hospice - the first year was for other charities.

Last year nine walkers came from Scotland and 18 from Wales to take part in Walk The Wight 2010. In all, 54 different nationalities took part, with 1 2 from the Netherlands and two from Ireland and 1 (me) from Findon.
Just over half the walkers in the 2010 Walk The Wight were women - 5,709 female walkers as opposed to 4,231 male.
Sixty portable toilets and 600 loo rolls are laid on for Walk The Wight each year.
Last year (2010) walkers drank 4,800 litres of water and 3,500 bottles of Lucozade Sport, supplied from checkpoints during Walk The Wight. They used 36,000 plastic cups. |
